Tennis Sees 15 Earn ITA Scholar-Athlete Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. (August 12, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s and women’s tennis teams have combined to have 15 student-athletes earn Scholar-Athlete accolades from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, as announced earlier this summer by the ITA. In addition, both the men and women earned All-Academic distinctions at the team level as well.
Men’s Tennis’ Barak Earns NE10 Elite 24 Award

MANSFIELD, Mass. (May 12, 2020) – Senior Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya’akov, Israel) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team has been named his sport’s Elite 24 Award winner by the Northeast-10 Conference, as announced last week by the league office.

As the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the country, the NCAA and the Northeast-10 Conference made the difficult decision to suspend, and ultimately cancel, the remainder of the spring season. Because of this, many teams, including the men’s tennis program at Franklin Pierce University, missed the opportunity to honor its Class of 2020 members on Senior Day. Men’s tennis was scheduled to host Stonehill in the regular season finale over the weekend. Today, we continue our Virtual Senior Day series to recognize the team’s senior student-athletes.
Men’s Tennis Puts Away Nichols, 7-0

POMFRET, Conn. (March 8, 2020) – It was a clean sweep on Sunday for the Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team, as the Ravens went on the road and took care of Nichols, 7-0, in a non-conference match contested at the Pomfret School.

MANSFIELD, Mass. (February 25, 2020) – Sophomore Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, for the week ending on Feb. 23, as announced on Tuesday by the Conference office.
Men’s Tennis Opens NE10 Campaign with 6-1 Win at Saint Michael’s

COLCHESTER, Vt. (February 19, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team -- which is ranked eighth in the East Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association -- got in the win column to start the Northeast-10 Conference portion of its campaign on the road on Wednesday afternoon. The Ravens were victorious in eight of the day’s nine matches on the way to a 6-1 win over Saint Michael’s.
Men’s Tennis Blanked at No. 17 Concordia (N.Y.) to Open Spring Season, 7-0

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (February 8, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team -- which is ranked eighth in the East Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association -- faced a stern test in the opener of the spring portion of its season on Saturday. The Ravens suffered a 7-0 defeat, as they traveled to take on No. 17 nationally ranked Concordia (N.Y.), which is currently ranked first in the East Region.

Men’s Tennis Splits Pair of Matches

RINDGE, N.H. (October 4, 2018) -- The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team was home for the first time in 2019-20 on Friday afternoon, as the Ravens split a pair of matches against Division III competition. Franklin Pierce opened the day with a 5-4 loss to Babson, and later put together a late-night, 8-1 win over Connecticut College. In between, Babson took a 6-3 victory over Connecticut College.

QUINCY, Mass. (September 25, 2019) -- The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team opened its 2019-20 season on Wednesday afternoon with a blowout win over Eastern Nazarene. The Ravens took the 8-1 win while losing just one match in singles play on the road.
Patrick/Ortiz Doubles Team Leads Way for Men’s Tennis at ITA East Regional

FLUSHING, N.Y. (September 16, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team opened its 2019-20 season over the weekend, as it had several members in action at the ITA East Regional Championship, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The doubles team of junior Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago) and freshman Alejandro Ortiz (Madrid, Spain) led the way for the Ravens, as they advanced to the quarterfinal round.
