Bio
Alejandro Andres enters his fourth season as head coach of the men's and women's tennis programs at Franklin Pierce University in 2024-25.
In the start of his fourth season with the Ravens, Andres took the women’s team to the NE10 Quarterfinals in the fall of 2024. First Year Polina Georgieva was awarded both the 2024 NE10 Vern Cox Player of the Year award and Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Raven in school history to claim both awards and the first player since 2013 to earn both awards in the same season.
In his third season with the Ravens in 2023-24, the women’s program saw a 3-11 (3-5 NE10) overall record and saw action in the NE10 First Round championships while the men’s team went 9-9 (6-4 NE10) and advanced to the NE10 Semifinals. Andres was named NE10 Coach of the Year, becoming the first coach from Franklin Pierce to ever win the award. With Andres at the helm, the Ravens finished the season on a strong note - defeating top-seeded Adelphi, 4-3, in the regular season finale on April 27. Over the last two weeks of the season, Franklin Pierce went 2-1 against the three other teams that qualified for the NE10 Championship - losing only a 4-3 match against Southern New Hampshire on April 20. The men earned four All-Conference honors and one on the All-Rookie team. The women received one NE10 All-Conference Third Team recognition.
During his second season in 2022-23, Andres guided the Pierce women's program to a 12-4 (8-1 NE10) record and their third consecutive NE10 Championship appearance, where they battled it out to a runner-up finish against top-ranked Southern New Hampshire University. Five individuals from the women's side were awarded with All-Conference honors, including First Team singles recognition for graduate Ana Platisa, and a 2nd-best overall team GPA across the Northeast-10 Conference. From the men's side, Andres helped the program to a 5-11 (1-8 NE10) overall record, which resulted in All-Conference recognition for seniors Joe Herin and Nkrumah Patrick (Second Team doubles) and All-Rookie for freshman Orlando Guerrero.
(2021-22) In his first season at the helm of the Franklin Pierce tennis programs, Andres started things off on a high note. For the fall season, Andres led the women's program to their second straight NE10 title after going 11-2 overall. The conference victory saw the women's program enter the NCAA Tournament, where they powered through to the East Super Regional with victories over Queens (N.Y.) and District of Columbia. The Ravens eventually fell to top-ranked Barry University in the super regional opening round to conclude their historic season.
For the men's side in 2021-22, Andres led the Ravens to a 7-9 overall record as well as an NE10 Tournament appearance. After posting a decisive 4-1 victory in the opening round of the tournament, Andres saw the men also face off against another top-ranked opponent, where they were bumped in the semifinals by the NE10 top squad Le Moyne.
