Five Ravens Land on 2010 Northeast-10 Winter Academic All-Conference Teams

RINDGE, N.H. (April 18, 2010) – Five Franklin Pierce student-athletes were recently named to the 2010 Northeast-10 Winter Academic All-Conference team in their respective sports. Junior guard Kinard Dozier (Dedham, Mass.) earned a spot on the men’s basketball squad, while senior standout Johannah Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England) and junior guard Cynthia Gaudet (Coventry, R.I.) were named to the women’s basketball team. In ice hockey, senior forward Phil LaBreck (Thornton, N.H.) and junior forward Sean Woodring (Rogue River, Oregon) each earned a spot on the academic squad. Franklin Pierce was tied for the most academic selections in each of the three sports listed above.
Sweeney Named Northeast-10 Freshman of The Year; Chighisola All-Conference First Team

(March 3, 2010) Freshman forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Freshman of the Year, as announced Wednesday by the conference office. In addition, Sweeney was an All-Northeast-10 Conference Second Team selection and named to the conferences All-Rookie Team. Also, sophomore forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) has been selected All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team.
Ice Hockey Drops Heartbreaker to Stonehill, 5-4, in Overtime of Northeast-10 Quarterfinal

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 27, 2010) Junior forward Angelo Todesca scored on a shorthanded breakaway 16:38 into overtime on Saturday night to give Stonehill a 5-4 victory over the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team in the quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship at The Winchendon School Ice Arena. The goal was Todescas second of the night and completed a furious comeback which saw Stonehill win after trailing 4-0 with nine minutes to play.

(February 26, 2010) The Franklin Pierce University mens ice hockey team will host a game in the quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship for the second consecutive season on Saturday night. The fourth-seeded Ravens will square off against fifth-seeded Stonehill at 7:30 p.m. at The Winchendon School Ice Arena.

Seniors Lead Rally On Senior Night, Ice Hockey Stuns Stonehill Late, 4-3, In Overtime

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 20, 2010) Senior forward Phil LaBreck (Thornton, N.H.) scored the game-winning goal on a partial breakaway 2:57 into overtime on Saturday night to give the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team a 4-3 victory over Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference play at The Winchendon School Ice Arena. The overtime winner came after senior defenseman William Dugan (Norwood, Mass.) scored his first career goal to tie the game with 2:38 to play in regulation.

Ice Hockey Falls at Assumption, 5-2

WORCESTER, Mass. (February 13, 2010) Sophomore forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) scored a goal to set another program record on Saturday night, but the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team was defeated, 5-2, by Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play at Buffone Rink. The goal gave Chighisola 32 points so far this season, which gave him sole possession of Franklin Pierces single-season point record. The previous record-holder was Joe Fields, who scored 31 points on 15 goals and 16 assists in 2007-08.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 6, 2010) Sophomore forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) scored two goals and added two assists on Saturday night to lead the Franklin Pierce University mens ice hockey team to a 6-2 victory over Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at The Winchendon School Ice Arena. Chighisolas second goal of the game was his 16th of the season, which set a new program record. It was also his 31st point of the season, which moved him into a tie for the most points in a single season in Franklin Pierce history.

(January 30, 2010) Freshman forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) scored three goals and added two assists to total five points on Saturday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team picked up a 7-4 victory over Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference play at Foxboro Sports Center. Sophomore forward Andrew Diozzi picked up two points with a goal and an assist for Stonehill in defeat.

(January 23, 2010) Senior forward Phil LaBreck (Thornton, N.H.) scored a goal on Saturday night, but the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team was defeated, 2-1, by Plymouth State in non-conference play at The Winchendon School Ice Arena. Junior forward Sean Buckley scored the game-winning goal for Plymouth State with 8:53 to play in regulation.

(January 19, 2010) Sophomore forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) scored two goals and added an assist on Tuesday night, but the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team was defeated, 5-4, by Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at The Ice Den. Junior forward Bob Bryant scored twice, including the game-winning goal, for Southern New Hampshire.
