Jeanette Wedo Named Head Coach of Franklin Pierce Women’s Basketball Program

RINDGE, N.H. (April 21, 2016) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Bruce Kirsh has announced Jeanette Wedo has been named the 14th head coach of the University’s women’s basketball program. Wedo has spent the previous 10 seasons as an assistant coach at three different Division I institutions and comes to Rindge after a three-year stint at The College of William & Mary.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 6, 2016) – Junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field team has been named his sport’s Sport Excellence award winner by the Northeast-10 Conference, as announced on Wednesday by the Conference office. In addition, Holmes, along with women’s basketball senior forward Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) and men’s ice hockey sophomore forward Jonathan Haun (Buffalo, N.Y.), has earned Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors. The selected Ravens were among 62 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the Northeast-10.

(March 14, 2016) – Senior forward Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team has been honored by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association in the organization’s end-of-the-season awards, as announced on Monday. Charette was named to the All-East Region Second Team.

(February 26, 2016) – Senior forward Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) and senior guard Natalie Bastian (Branford, Conn.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team have both been honored by the Northeast-10 Conference in the league’s end-of-the-season awards, as announced on Friday by the Conference office. Charette was named to the All-Northeast-10 First Team, while Bastian earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention.

RINGDE, N.H. (February 26, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team had a slow start on Friday night, and a 28-point Adelphi third quarter would ultimately go unmatched. Even senior forward Kara Charette’s (Fairhaven, Mass.) double-double and career high of 34 points were not enough, as Ravens fell in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in the Fieldhouse, 72-65.

(February 23, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team will head into the postseason as the fourth seed in the Northeast Division after a Northeast-10 Conference win over the Assumption Greyhounds on Tuesday night. Sophomore guard Jemma Thacker (Aldgate Australia) went 4-for-4 on three-pointers and senior forward Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) had a game high of 20 points to lead the Ravens to a 76-60 victory in the Fieldhouse.

Senior forward Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) had a game-high 21 points, but it was not enough, as the Penmen slipped past for the win, 56-55, at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
