JAMESVILLE, N.Y. (October 27, 2019) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team competed in upstate New York on Sunday. The Ravens took sixth, out of 14 teams, at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, marking the highest they have ever finished at the event.

Leading the way for the Ravens was junior Marissa Farago (Salisbury, Mass.), who took 15th out of the 135-person field, for her 25:05 6k finish. With the top 21 finishers earning All-NE10 honors, the 15th position was good for All-NE10 Third Team accolades. She was followed shortly after by sophomore Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.), who took a 27th-place finish after running a time of 25:28.

Senior Julia Cormier (Northwood, N.H.) was the next runner to cross the line for Franklin Pierce. She took 41st with a time of 26:03. She was followed by junior Lauren Stankiewicz (Naugatuck, Conn.), whose 26:18 finish led to a 45th-place finish. Senior Rebecca Zylak (Goffstown, N.H.) came in just inside the top-50, getting 50th for her 26:26 finish, to round out Franklin Pierce's scoring five.

Freshman Nadia Cathcart (Hyde Park, N.Y.) was 63rd after her 26:57 race, and junior Marisa Carbone (Scarborough, Maine) ran a 27:45, leading to a 76th-place finish. A 28:00 race led to 83rd place for freshman Victoria Van Houten (Wantage, N.J.).

Sophomore Alena Masterson (Pelham, N.H.) was the 121st person to cross the line with 30:30 on the clock. Junior Amanda Pale (Plainville, Conn.) crossed the line in 31:10, leading to a 126th-place finish. Finishing up the race for Franklin Pierce was freshman Alexis Collins (Monroe, N.H.), who ran a 32:27 and landed in 128th place.

Masterson was selected as the recipient of the women's cross country Elite 24 Award, which is awarded to the student-athlete with the top grade-point average at each of the NE10's 24 championships over the course of the year.

Out of 14 teams, the Ravens came in sixth with 162 points. Stonehill won the meet with 36 points, to claim the team's 11th straight NE10 title, as well as its 18th overall. The Skyhawks were followed by SNHU with 74 points, Saint Anselm with 134 points, Adelphi with 142 points, and Assumption with 147 points to round out the top five.

The Ravens will be back at it on Saturday, Nov. 9, for the NCAA Championship East Regional in Philadelphia.
