RINDGE, N.H. (January 31, 2005) Franklin Pierce junior midfielder Sonya Hughes (Balbriggan, Ireland) has been named a finalist for the Womens International Award to be announced at the 15th Annual eircom/Football Association of Ireland (FAI) Soccer Awards banquet Sunday, February 6, in Dublin.

Bailey Named NSCAA/adidas New England Region Coach of the Year

RINDGE, N.H. (December 14, 2004) Franklin Pierce womens soccer head coach, Jeff Bailey, has been voted the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas New England Region Coach of the Year by his peers. Bailey is now eligible for NSCAA/adidas Division II Coach of the Year accolades to be announced at the Associations winter convention in January.

Franklin Pierce Duo Earn Academic All-America Honors

RINDGE, N.H. (December 1, 2004) Two members of the Franklin Pierce womens soccer team were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Womens Soccer Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Senior back Martta Makila (Vantaa, Finland) and junior midfielder Sonya Hughes (Balbriggan, Ireland) both earned the first Academic All-America honors of their career with spots on the third team. The pair are the programs first Academic All-Americans since Pauliina Miettinen and Pauliina Auveri each claimed their second-straight honors in 1998. Makila and Hughes are the fifth and sixth honorees in program history.

(November 23, 2004) Four members of the Franklin Pierce womens soccer team earned spots on the ESPN The Magazine Academic District I College Division Womens Soccer Teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The teams are selected by sports information directors from New England and New York in all three NCAA Divisions as well as the NAIA.

(November 15, 2004) Junior All-American Laura Hislop (Belfast, Northern Ireland) highlights a list of six Franklin Pierce womens soccer players to earn All-Northeast-10 Conference honors as she was named the Conferences Player of the Year for the first time. The teams and awards were announced by the Northeast-10 Conference office today.

(November 8, 2004) Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 4 in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II womens soccer poll, earned a record 13th-consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament berth and will host the 2004 NCAA New England Regional Tournament to be held on campus Friday, November 12, and Sunday, November 14. The NCAA Division II selection committee made the announcement today at 5 p.m.
