Russell Gaskamp Tabbed to Lead Franklin Pierce Football Program

RINDGE, N.H. (December 14, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Rachel Burleson has announced Russell Gaskamp has been named as the next head coach of the University’s football program. Gaskamp will be the program’s third coach overall and will be the first to coach the team at the Division II level, as the Ravens join the Northeast-10 Conference in the fall of 2019. He will replace Rashad Watson, who announced his resignation earlier this week.

MANSFIELD, Mass. (February 14, 2018) - Franklin Pierce University announced plans to begin transitioning their current Sprint Football program to an NCAA Division II program. The Ravens will join the Northeast-10 Conference in the sport beginning in the Fall of 2019 and will become the 11th institution to compete in the sport in the league.

RINDGE, N.H. (September 25, 2018) – With the transition to NCAA Division II sport sponsorship coming next season, the Franklin Pierce University football program has announced changes to the remainder of its 2018 schedule, in conjunction with the Collegiate Sprint Football League. The changes include the removal of some CSFL opponents from the schedule, to be replaced by games against Division III and junior college opponents.
Football Runs Wild in 28-14 Homecoming Win over Post

RINDGE, N.H. (September 22, 2018) – Junior running back Kobie Smith (Leominster, Mass.) turned in a workhorse effort of 33 carries for 257 yards (7.8 yards per carry) on Saturday afternoon, to lead a 288-yard rushing attack by the Franklin Pierce University sprint football team. The Ravens erased a 14-0 second-quarter deficit to pick up a 28-14 win over visiting Post in Collegiate Sprint Football League North Division play at Sodexo Field.
Football Falls to Navy, 45-7

RINDGE, N.H. (September 15, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University sprint football team held its own for a quarter and then some against Navy on Saturday afternoon, but the floodgates opened in the second quarter at Sodexo Field. Navy piled up 24 second-quarter points and added 21 more in the second half, on the way to a 45-7 win in the Collegiate Sprint Football League opener for both teams. Junior quarterback Walt Fagan threw for 107 yards and four touchdowns to lead the way for the Midshipmen. The Ravens did themselves no favors on the afternoon, as Franklin Pierce turned the ball over six times and committed 16 penalties totaling 165 yards.
Football’s DeForge, Ainsley Earn CSFL All-Academic Team Honors

(June 12, 2018) – Senior tight end Taylor DeForge (Bristol, Conn.) and senior offensive lineman Jack Ainsley (Averill Park, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University sprint football team have been named to the inaugural edition of the Collegiate Sprint Football League All-Academic Team, as announced earlier this spring by the CSFL.
Football Announces 2018 Recruiting Class

In all, including Honorable Mention accolades, the Ravens had nine players honored by the league office.

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (November 3, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University sprint football team scored first on Friday night at A.A. Garthwaite Stadium, but did not score again. A first-quarter field goal from sophomore kicker Owen King (Athol, Mass.) was all the Ravens could come up with in their season finale. Chestnut Hill rattled off 28 unanswered points, including 21 in the second half, to post a 28-3 victory in cross-division Collegiate Sprint Football League play.

(October 28, 2017) – It was Kobie Smith (Leominster, Mass.) early, it was Kobie Smith often and it was Kobie Smith all afternoon long on Saturday for the Franklin Pierce University sprint football team. Smith rushed for 269 yards and two scores at Bonnel Field, to lead a school-record 435-yard rushing attack for the Ravens, who posted a 45-7 win over Caldwell in cross-division Collegiate Sprint Football League play.

Cornell Rallies Past Sprint Football in Second Half, 19-14

RINDGE, N.H. (October 14, 2017) – After using a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to jump to a 14-3 halftime lead, the Franklin Pierce University sprint football team came up empty in the second half on Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field. Following a third-quarter touchdown, Cornell got a field goal in the first minute of the fourth quarter and then struck for the game-winning touchdown with just 28 seconds to play, to pull out a 19-14 win on the road in Collegiate Sprint Football League North Division play. Junior quarterback Connor Ostrander rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown, and threw for 90 yards and another score to lead the way for the Big Red.

WATERBURY, Conn. (October 7, 2017) – Sophomore back Kobie Smith (Leominster, Mass.) rushed for 176 yards and three scores on Saturday, while freshman Tionne Brown (Turners Falls, Mass.) added 99 rushing yards of his own, as the Franklin Pierce University sprint football league bounced back from a pair of shutout defeats with a 28-0 win on the road at Post. The duo led a 316-yard rushing attack for the Ravens in Collegiate Sprint Football League North Division action at LaMoy Field.
Sprint Football Blanked at Navy, 33-0

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (September 30, 2017) – Playing seven hours from home and with heavy hearts, the Franklin Pierce University sprint football team kept things close through one quarter on Saturday afternoon at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Ultimately though, Navy would use 14 second-quarter points to open up the lead on the way to a 33-0 win in Collegiate Sprint Football League play. Junior quarterback Brandon Coleman threw for 144 yards and a score to key at 215-yard passing attack for Navy in the victory.
