Sprint Football’s Smith Named CSFL Offensive Player of the Week
RINDGE, N.H. (November 1, 2017) – Sophomore back Kobie Smith (Leominster, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University sprint football team has been named Collegiate Sprint Football League Offensive Player of the Week, for the week ending on Oct. 29, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the League office.
Smith had the second-most prolific rushing day in program history on Saturday at Caldwell, as he ran for 269 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries (11.2 yards per carry), including touchdown runs of 58 and 31 yards. He led a 435-yard rushing attack for the Ravens, which represented a new program record.
On the season, Smith is the team’s leading rusher, having carried 109 times for 692 yards (6.3 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns. He is averaging 115.3 rushing yards per game, which leads the CSFL by nearly 40 yards per game.
The Ravens (3-3) wrap up the 2017 campaign on Friday night, when they visit Chestnut Hill for a cross-division contest. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at A.A. Garthwaite Stadium in Conshohocken, Pa. A win would give Franklin Pierce its third straight above-.500 season.
