Track & Field Has Three Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

RINDGE, N.H. (August 2, 2017) – Freshman Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) and senior Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team, along with senior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the men’s team, have all earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced late last week by the USTFCCCA. In addition, both the men’s and women’s squads were honored as All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA.
Men’s Track & Field’s Minors to Compete in Taiwan at World University Games

RINDGE, N.H. (July 26, 2017) – Senior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field team has been selected to represent his home country of Bermuda at the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan, later this summer. Minors will compete in the 800 meters, which are scheduled to be contested on Aug. 26-28 at the 20,000-seat Taipei Municipal Stadium.
Two Ravens Earn Spots on NE10 Academic All-Conference Teams

RINDGE, N.H. (July 13, 2017) – Franklin Pierce University has had two student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the spring season, as announced on Thursday by the Conference office. Junior John Amendola (Wallingford, Conn.) of the baseball team, along with senior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) of the men’s track & field team, were both honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 93 student-athletes across 10 sports honored by the NE10.
Men’s Track & Field’s Minors Collects All-America Honors in 800m at NCAA Championships

BRADENTON, Fla. (May 27, 2017) – For the fifth time in his collegiate career, senior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field team is an All-American. Minors capped his season on Saturday night by finishing eighth, out of eight finalists, in the 800 meters at the NCAA Championships, hosted by University of Tampa and IMG Academy.

BRADENTON, Fla. (May 26, 2017) – Once again, senior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) has qualified for a national championship race at the NCAA Championships. On Friday evening, in the preliminary rounds of the 800 meters at IMG Academy, Minors ran the day’s fifth-fastest time and punched his ticket through to Saturday’s final.
Holmes Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors for Cross Country/Track & Field

(May 25, 2017) – Senior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country and track & field team has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team, as announced on Thursday by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). As a result of the selection, Holmes will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.
Men’s Track & Field’s Minors Named USTFCCCA East Region Track Athlete of the Year

4x800m Relay Takes Title, Men’s Track & Field Fourth after First Day of NE10 Championships

EASTON, Mass. (May 6, 2017) – The 4x800-meter relay team took home the Northeast-10 Conference title on Saturday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field team on the first day of the NE10 Championships, hosted by Stonehill College. In all, the Ravens had seven scoring performances on Saturday and sit fourth, out of 11 teams, after the first day of the meet.

PHILADELPHIA (April 29, 2017) – On the final day of the storied Penn Relays, junior Rindal Pierre-Canel (Randolph, Mass.) turned in a personal best to post a top-10 finish in the triple jump at historic Franklin Field. Meanwhile, the majority of the Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field team was in Troy, N.Y., for the Capital District Classic, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The Ravens also fielded a 4x800-meter relay team at the Penn Relays.
Baah Goes Big in Triple Jump for Track & Field on Second Day of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA (April 28, 2017) – Sophomore Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) turned in a school record in the triple jump on Friday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University track & field team on the second day of the renowned Penn Relays. On the men’s side of things the Ravens fielded a team in the sprint medley relay Championship of America Invitational at historic Franklin Field.
Purves Shines in 400m Hurdles to Lead Track & Field on First Full Day of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA (April 27, 2017) – Freshman Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) moved into the top 10 in the country in the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday, as her performance led the way for the Franklin Pierce University track & field team on the first full day of the prestigious Penn Relays The Ravens women also fielded two relay teams on the day, while senior B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) represented the men’s squad in the 5000 meters at historic Franklin Field.
