LAKE WALES, Fla. (March 21, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team wrapped up its three-match Florida swing in style on Friday, as the Ravens posted a 7-2 win on the road at Warner in non-conference play.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 6-3, while Warner falls to 7-10.

Franklin Pierce took two of the three doubles matches to open play with a 2-1 lead. At second doubles, freshman Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) and junior Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) squeaked past Warner junior Julian Cuartas and sophomore Bruno Carvalho, 8-6. At third doubles, it was an 8-1 romp for seniors James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) and Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) over freshman Henrique Dias and sophomore Antonio Santos.

The Ravens proceeded to take care of business in singles play as well, as they took five of the six matches to finish off the 7-2 victory. The only three-set contest of the six singles matches came at second singles, where Bisazza and Cuartas locked horns, with the former ultimately prevailing in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory. Though it went in straight sets, fifth singles was rather competitive as well, as Barak notched a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Dias.

Franklin Pierce faced far less drama in its other three singles victories. At third singles, Gordon took care of freshman Filipe Gil, 6-2, 6-2. At fourth singles, it was a 6-4, 6-2 win for sophomore Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago) over Carvalho. At sixth singles, Schadt rolled past Santos, 6-0, 6-1.

The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, March 24, when they travel to Emerson for a non-conference contest at 9:30 a.m.
