Men’s Tennis Falls at Eckerd, 8-1
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 19, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team hit the road on Monday to open a three-match spring break trip to Florida. The Ravens dropped an 8-1 decision at Eckerd in non-conference play.
With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 6-4, while Eckerd improves to 4-5.
Franklin Pierce's lone point of the day came at second doubles. Juniors James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) and Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) teamed up to take an 8-1 win from Eckerd junior Alasdair Knox and senior Connor Masella.
The most competitive match of the day came at first singles, which went the distance and needed a third-set tiebreaker. Knox dropped the first set to Franklin Pierce freshman Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain), but rallied back for a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory.
In all, four different Eckerd players won in both singles and doubles play on Monday.
The Ravens return to the court on Tuesday, March 20, when they visit Webber International for a 2 p.m. match in Babson Park, Fla.
