Men’s Tennis Blanked by SNHU, 9-0

RINDGE, N.H. (March 29, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated on Wednesday afternoon, 9-0, at home in Northeast-10 Conference play by Southern New Hampshire.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-9 (0-2 NE10), while Southern New Hampshire improves to 8-6 (3-0 NE10).

Franklin Pierce was at its most competitive on Wednesday at second doubles and first singles. At second doubles, junior Olivier Viel (Quebec City, Quebec) and freshman Matthew Toombs (Pleasanton, Calif.) hung tight with SNHU juniors Miguel Marreiros and Xavier Aubron, before the Penmen pair pulled out the 8-5 win. At first singles, it was sophomore James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) who put up a fight, before succumbing to junior Tiago Fernandes in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Meanwhile, all six Southern New Hampshire players posted wins in both singles and doubles. Fernandes led the Penmen with wins at both first doubles and first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Thursday, March 30, when they remain home to host Assumption at 2:30 p.m. in Rindge.
