Six Ravens Earn Spots on NE10 Academic All-Conference Teams

MANSFIELD, Mass. (February 4, 2020) – Franklin Pierce University has had six student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the fall season, as announced on Monday by the Conference office. Junior Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) and sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) of the men’s cross country team, senior midfielder Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) and junior forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) of the men’s soccer team, senior back Jessica Strassburg (Longmeadow, Mass.) of the field hockey team, and senior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil), were all honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 89 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the NE10.

Following a subpar 2018 season that saw the Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team post a below .500 overall mark (7-10-1, 6-6-1 NE10). The Ravens under the leadership of first-year head coach Ruben Resendes made great strides in restoring the tradition of the storied program putting the team on the brink of a regional championship in his first year.

No. 18 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer junior defender Carlos Ferrando Felis (Tavernes de la Valldigna, Spain) has been chosen as a 2019 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-America Second Team honoree the organization announced Wednesday evening. It marks the first time since the 2016 campaign (Marius Preber, Third Team) that a men’s soccer athlete has earned an All-America nod.

The win propelled them to the Super Region 1 – Quarterfinal game with the chance to go to the Final Four on the line Saturday at 2:00 p.m. versus no. 10 nationally-ranked Charleston (W. Va.) on the campus of Gannon University.

No. 18 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer graduate midfielder Javier García Borrás (Alzira, Spain) converted a penalty kick with 30 seconds left in double-overtime to send the Ravens on to the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Super Regional 1 Quarterfinal game with a 2-1 victory over the no. 9 seeded Post University Eagles Thursday morning at the McConnell Family Stadium in Erie, Pa.
Felber, Laudahn Chosen to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

For the second straight year Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer junior Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Men's Soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Felber was joined by first time honoree Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) giving the Ravens two Academic All-America Players during a single season for the first time in program history.

The No. 18 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team’s 2019 run in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship came to an end Wednesday evening as they played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie before they were bettered 5-4 in penalty kicks by no. 6 seeded the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights on a cold and bitter night on Sodexo Field.
