Setters Overwhelm Ravens, 19-3

Pleasantville, N.Y. (3/18/25) – The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team suffered its second loss in conference play versus the No. 4 nationally ranked Pace Setters Tuesday night, 19-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The No. 4 nationally ranked Setters of Pace University got to a hot start over the Ravens opening the scoring with five straight goals. It took until the final minute of the first period when senior Jackson Hale (Kensington, N.H.) was able to find the back of the net and get the Ravens on the board, 5-1. Pace then added one more goal before the end of the period, 6-1.
  • The Setters continued to put the pressure on the Ravens scoring seven goals in the period while shutting out the Ravens during the time.
  • Pace continued its offensive push with two more goals to open the third period before freshman Aidan Gibbons (Billerica, Mass.) netted the Raven's second goal, making it 15-2. The Setters scored one final goal in the final four minutes of the period extending their lead over the Ravens 16-2.
  • Pace then added to their insurance scoring, three more goals in the fourth period before with four minutes left, junior Alex Costa (Billerica, Mass.) capitalized on the man advantage making it the final of 19-3.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The Setters outshot the Ravens 42-20.
  • The Ravens went 1-5 on the man up and the Setters went 1-2.
  • The Ravens won 6 face-offs compared to 18 from the Setters.
  • The Ravens committed 16 turnovers compared to 15 from the Setters.
  • The Setters won 53 ground balls compared to 36 from the Ravens.
  • Senior goalkeeper Mike Masterpolo (Kingston, Mass.) suffered the loss in net after facing 20 shots and making 7 saves. Freshman Sean Cote (Goffstown, N.H.) then relieved Masterpolo and made 4 saves on 10 shots faced.
