Ravens Drop in Nail Biter

KEENE, N.H. (2/23/2025) – The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team was back in action Saturday in a non-conference game against Mercy where the Ravens fell 17-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Ravens get off to a fast start in the first quarter with Jackson Philion (Charlton, Mass.) receiver a pass from Michael Lawler (Wilmington, Mass.) and shooting the first goal of the contest. It takes the Purple Knights some time before they answer with a goal from Stephen Trama. The Ravens retake the lead with an unassisted goal from Jackson Hale. Though, just two minutes later, Ashton Lankowski ties it back up. Philion and Lankowski go back and fourth with goals once again before James Goodrich takes the lead for the Purple Knights just before the quarter ends.
- Hale comes out firing in the second quarter, scoring another goal to tie the game up at 4. Exactly 2 minutes later Hunter Lizza snipes a goal to have the Purple Knights back on top. Lankowski scores his 3rd goal, but the Ravens go a man-up and take advantage scoring 2 goals to tie it. Before the Ravens go back down for too long, Hale ties it up at 7 as the half winds down.
- The third quarter was a bit quieter, with some scoring from Aidan Gibbons (Billerica, Mass.) and Chris Hunt (Billerica, Mass.), only to get tied back up by goals from Aidan Kirkpatrick and Lizza.
- Lankowski opens the final quarter with a shot gets through, taking the lead. Trama then gets the Purple Knights on top by 2 with a goal. Philion does it himself twice to tie the game in just 5 minutes of time. Though, with just seconds remaining, Lankowski rips the game winning goal for the Purple K nights, securing the 12-11 victory.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
- The Purple Knights outshot the Ravens 37-30.
- Goalie Sean Cote (Goffstown, NH.) made 10 saves in the loss.
- Franklin Pierce had 25 groundballs, Mercy had 34.
NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens head over to Post University on Wednesday the 26th to face off against the Eagles. Start time is set for 1 PM.
