HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first quarter, the Ravens opened the scoring. Jaxon Underhill (Calabasas, Calif.) fed a pass to Dan Cohen (Canton, Mass.) who rocketed in the top right corner for the 1-0 lead. The Penmen responded quickly with a goal from Patrick Roy to tie the score at one a piece. The Ravens regained the lead thanks to a goal from Connor Henchey (Bellingham, Mass.) who skipped a shot in the right corner for the 2-1 lead. The Penmen countered at the end of the quarter as Cody Fleming tied the score 2-2.
- The start of the 2nd quarter wouldn't treat the Ravens kindly. A trio of goals from Tim Krutz, Jack Terrones, and Ryan Auger put them in front 5-2. The Ravens got a much-needed answer from Conor Rooney (Wilmington, Mass.) who wrapped around the net and ripped a shot past the Penmen's goalkeeper, making it a 5-3 Penmen lead. The Penmen countered shortly after as Cam Cote scored on a breakaway on the man down, giving them the 6-3 lead. At the end of the 2nd quarter, the Ravens did get a much-needed break. On the man up, Connor McCormack (Hampstead, N.H.) shoveled a pass over to Ethan Cote (North Smithfield, R.I.) who fired a shot in the top right corner, cutting the deficit to 6-4 approaching the halftime break.
- The back-and-forth affair continued in the 3rd quarter as both teams traded punches. The Ravens began the quarter with a burst of energy, scoring 2 goals right off the bat. The first came from Dan Cohen, who scored his 2nd goal of the game from distance to pull the Ravens within one, 6-5. Shortly after, the Ravens found the equalizer. Conor Rooney rubbed off a defender and pocketed in the top corner to tie the game at 6. The momentum was short lived as Ryan Lynch scored a pair of goals for the Penmen, giving them the 8-6 lead. However, the Ravens weren't done yet. Ethan Cote scored his 2nd goal of the game as he ripped a shot past the right side, making it 8-7 Penmen. The Ravens wouldn't stop there as Alex Costa (Billerica, Mass.) tied the score at 8, bouncing a shot into the middle of the goal. The drama continued late in the 3rd quarter as the Penmen regained the lead thanks to a goal from Matt Antonetti, giving them the 9-8 lead. On his senior day, Dan Cohen continued to impress. He recorded a hat trick as he snuck a shot in the bottom left corner, tying the score 9-9. With just 40 seconds remaining the quarter, the Penmen dealt the Ravens a heavy blow. Jack Terrones scored a late go-ahead goal, putting them in the lead 10-9 entering the 4th quarter.
- The 4th quarter proved to be more of a defensive game than the chaotic 3rd quarter. Ryan Lynch added to his tally, recording a hat trick to put the Penmen ahead by a pair, 11-9. The Ravens showed signs of life late in the 4th quarter. Dan Cohen scored his 4th goal of the game with just 29 seconds left, as Conor Rooney fed him a pass in front and he capitalized as he went uncovered, making it 11-10 Penmen. The Ravens couldn't complete the comeback in the final seconds and came up short against the Penmen.
