RINDGE, N.H. (March 7, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team jumped ahead to an early 9-0 advantage and kept piling on goals in the second stanza as they made quick work of non-conference opponent Post University 17-6 Saturday afternoon during a sunny and windy home opener on Sodexo Field. With the victory, the crimson and grey move to 2-0 on the young season while the Eagles drop their sixth in a row.

The Ravens shutout Post through six quarters dating back to their 15-0 season-opening win last year on the road. They were up 9-0 through the first half until Post struck for a goal 41 seconds into the new quarter. The FPU offense lit up the scoreboard in the first half notching six goals over the opening 15 minutes of play while their defense in the second quarter stifled their counterparts offense as they allowed no shots in the period.

FPU was carried to victory by a pair of four-point efforts and a duo of three-goal (hat trick scorers). Junior midfielder Mike Alibrandi (Holliston, Mass.) had two goals and two assists while newcomer attack Owen McCormack (Hampstead, N.H.) poured in two goals and two assists of his own. Raven junior midfielder Josh Dorr (Brunswick, Maine) and former high school teammate, freshman Nathaniel Girardin (Brunswick, Maine) recorded the three-goal games with Girardin tallying the first multi-score game of his career.

Team captain, senior Alex Caskie (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore long stick midfielder Connor Chapdelaine (Goffstown, N.H.) were the key defenders as both athletes had a high total of caused turnovers. Caskie caused four mistakes and Chapdelaine forced Post players into three.

Junior Justin Lorenzo (Goshen, N.Y.) was the starting keeper for Pierce. He improved to 2-0 on the season allowing two goals and making four saves in 37:58 in the net. Nathan Taylor (Danville, N.H.) came on in relief of Lorenzo for 13:32 and stopped two shots. Freshman Tim Perlin (Swampscott, Mass.) entered the game in the four-quarter for 8:30 to close out the win.

For Post, freshman midfielder Brendan Kelleher manufactured two goals while junior Carlos Chacua had a three-point effort, one goal, and two assists. John Carr suffered the setback in net allowing 16 goals making 11 saves in the process.

Pierce outshot their opponents by a 46-to-23 margin including a 32-to-4 mark in the first half. They also were 20-for-24 (83.3%) on clears and scored on half of their man advantage chances (3-for-6).

The Ravens return to action on Wednesday, March 18th when they host Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption College on Sodexo Field at 3:00 p.m.
