NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (April 11, 2018) – The no. 2 nationally-ranked Merrimack College men's lacrosse used a first-half outburst to upend Franklin Pierce University 14-6 Wednesday afternoon at Merrimack Stadium. The loss drops the Ravens to 4-5, 2-5 NE10 while the Warriors climb to 9-1, 6-1 NE10.

The hosts scored the opening three goals of the contest, all unassisted before Nevin Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) punched in the first Ravens score to cut their early deficit to 3-1. Merrimack responded by tallying the next seven goals with two coming off the stick of Charlie Bertrand to lead 10-1 at the intermission. A Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) connection began the second half scoring to bring the deficit down to eight.

Four in a row from the Warriors increased the score to 14-2, but Matt Brewster (Merrimack, N.H.), Kriger, Jack Carney (Dunbarton, N.H.) and Delea closed out the scoring in the showdown.

Kriger finished the game tied with Delea for the team lead in goals with two. Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.Y.) chipped in an assist and starting goalkeeper Justin Lorenzo (Goshen, N.Y.) stopped 12 shots for FPU.

Merrimack attack Christian Thomas totaled a game-high five points in the win with Sean Black and Charlie Bertrand adding four-point efforts. Peter Brown improved to 7-1 on the season as he made eight saves during his 45 minutes in net.

The Ravens look to carry their fourth-quarter momentum into a home showdown this Saturday versus Southern New Hampshire at 11:00 a.m. for Senior Day.
