Cody MacLellan threw in a pair of markers to help guide the Ravens to victory

RINDGE, N.H. (March 11, 2014) – Junior attackman Eddie Noonan (Foxboro, Mass.) logged a five-point afternoon with two goals and a trio of assists to help lead the Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team to its second-consecutive win on Tuesday via an 11-5 count over Post University at Sodexo Field in Rindge. The Ravens improved to 2-1, while Post dipped to 3-4.

Noonan's finest goal of the afternoon was a pretty behind-the-back strike from out front in the opening minutes of the third quarter to push the Ravens' lead out to 7-2.

The goal came at an important time for Franklin Pierce, who scuffled over the final several minutes of the first half after opening the game with what looked to be a convincing 6-0 lead.

Post, though, scored twice in the closing minutes of the second quarter on strikes from Joe Greene and Kyle Shannon, to pull within four at halftime and make things interesting.

Noonan's goal, though, only sparked a trading of tallies between the two sides in the third quarter, as the Ravens could not pull away.

But as the game turned into the fourth quarter, Noonan's impressive all-around play on the afternoon finally gave the Ravens the cushion they needed to cruise in for the win. The attackman began logging several groundballs to keep Franklin Pierce on Post's side of the field, and he fed several nifty passes to fellow teammates that were finished off three times in the stanza to make it a six-goal margin once again. Noonan recorded all three of his assists in the fourth, as classmate Kevin Dargin (Littleton, Mass.) scored twice, and sophomore Dylan Leone (Tewksbury, Mass.) threw in a strike for his first marker of the year.

Franklin Pierce held an impressive 54-31 advantage in shots on the day, marking the second time in as many games the Ravens went for 50-or-more attempts.

Dargin, who leads the nation in goals per game, dumped in three on the day to run his season total to 12. Sophomore Casey Burnett (Windham, N.H.) and junior Cody MacLellan (Keene, N.H.) each notched a pair of markers on the afternoon.

Both of Burnett's goals came in that opening 6-0 surge, while MacLellan, Dargin, Noonan, and junior Erik Kelly (Tewksbury, Mass.) each struck home a blast to add to it.;8

Franklin Pierce's strong work on 50-50 balls paid off in the form of a 49-35 edge in groundballs. Noonan scooped up seven grounders to lead the way, while senior Eric Vincens (Ellington, Conn.) nabbed five of his own. Junior Will Schorle (Marshfield, Mass.) collected four grounders, and forced a team-high tying three turnovers to stymie Post's offensive attack. In addition to throwing in a strike, Leone joined Schorle for team-high honors with three miscues caused as well.

When Post was able to bust through the Ravens' stingy defensive effort, junior goalie Don Denman (Exeter, N.H.) was more than up to the challenge by turning aside 15 of 20 shots faced to run his record to 2-1. It marked the 11^th-straight time Denman has recorded double-figure saves in a contest, as he came into today tied for ninth nationally with an average of 13 stops a game.

Shannon led the Eagles with two goals, while Alex Brownlee added a tally and posted a team-high nine attempts. Matt Castellvi stopped 12 shots despite suffering the loss to fall to 0-2 on the year.

The Ravens concluded non-conference play with Tuesday's win, and now return to the grind of the Northeast-10 Conference schedule, which picks back up Saturday with a trip to Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. Face off for that game is slated for 1 p.m.
