Pace Breezes Past Franklin Pierce, 20-5

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (April 16, 2005) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team dropped a 20-5 decision to Pace University today in Northeast-10 Conference action in Pleasantville, N.Y. The Setters netted the first eight goals of the contest and led 13-3 at the half. They outscored the Ravens 7-2 in the second half en route to the victory.

Senior Charlie Rizzuto (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem) led the way with a goal and six assists, while classmate Nick Dippolito (Bayville, N.Y./St. Dominic) and junior Kenneth Lysick (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) each totaled four goals and a helper. Junior Chris Harris (Farmingdale, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) registered four points on a marker and four assists, while freshman Ryan Gregory (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) chipped in with a hat trick for Pace. 

Junior captain Nick Cowden (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) scored four goals and dished out an assist, while sophomore John Philbrook (North Berwick, Maine/Noble) netted a goal to round out the scoring for Franklin Pierce.

Freshman goalkeeper Joseph Fragola (New Rochelle, N.Y./Iona Prep) stopped six shots en route to the victory for the Setters, while Ravens freshmen netminder Freeman Scott (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) made two saves in a losing effort for Franklin Pierce. Junior Ben Lek (Gaithersburg, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) replaced Scott in the second half and picked up seven saves.

Franklin Pierce (0-7, 0-6 NE-10) will be in action again on Thursday, when they host Northeast-10 Conference foe American International College at 5:00 p.m. Pace (4-6, 3-4 NE-10) will host Merrimack College for a league game on Monday at 4:00 p.m.
