Plymouth State Trounces Franklin Pierce
Holmes nets four goals, Snow tallies four assists
ORLANDO, FLA. (March 17, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team opened up the regular season with a 24-8 loss to Plymouth State College in non-conference action this evening.
The Ravens held the 2-1 advantage ten minutes into the first stanza, but couldn't hold off the Panthers' charge, as they scored six goals to make the score 7-4 by the end of the period. The Panthers took it to the Ravens hard in the second half scoring 11 goals to take a six goal lead by the half.
Plymouth State continued to roll in the final half of the game scoring 12 goals as opposed to Franklin Pierce's three markers.
Sophomore Jake Holmes (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) returned to the lineup after being sidelined with a season ending injury in the first game of the 2001 season to score four goals for the Ravens.
Freshman Nate Snow (Salem, Mass./Salem) dished four helpers, while classmate Andy McEntee (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) scored his first career goal.
JuniorAndy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet) made 18 stops for Franklin Pierce, while Plymouth netminder Dan Egan recorded 17 saves for the win.
Franklin Pierce (0-1, 0-0 NE-10) returns to action on Monday, March 25, when it travels to Merrimack College for its first Northeast-10 Conference matchup of the season at 3:30 p.m.
