HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The opening period was a fast and physical battle between two bitter inter-state rivals. The Penmen controlled the puck in the offensive zone for much of the 1st period and continually tested Ravens junior goaltender Jeremy Connor (Hazlet, N.J.). He stood tall in net and stopped all 12 shots he faced. The game remained at a 0-0 tie heading into the 1st intermission.
  • The momentum for the Penmen carried over into the 2nd period. Nic Dallaire ripped a shot from the left circle, beating Jeremy Connor and giving them a 1-0 lead. The Penmen held onto the 1-0 leading entering the 2nd intermission.
  • The Penmen continued to control play in the 3rd period, outshooting the Ravens 11-6 and shutting them down offensively to secure the 1-0 shutout victory and advance to the NE-10 Semifinal Round.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The Penmen outshot the Ravens 36-20.
  • The Ravens went 0-1 on the power play while the Penmen went 0-4.
  • Junior netminder Jeremy Connor (Hazlet, N.J.) suffered the loss in net for the Ravens but posted an incredible 35-save performance.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS:

The Ravens will look to utilize their young core for next season with Head Coach Ken Gernander at the helm. He'll look to continue to inspire young players with his guidance as a former AHL player and coach for the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Ravens played competitive hockey for most of the year and started to play as a complete unit when the calendar turned to 2025. There's a bright future in store for the Ravens.
