Ravens Fall to the Purple Knights, 3-1

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (1/24/25) - The Franklin Pierce Men's Hockey team continues its struggles after a 3-1 defeat to the Saint Michael's Purple Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Purple Knights opened the scoring half way through the first period with Jack Macdonald scoring an unassisted goal. The score was 1-0 in favor of the Knights heading into the intermission.
  • Saint Michael's then extended their lead to 2-0 courtesy of a goal by Case Kantgias, who received a pass from David Ciancio and Ty Bloom.
  • Both teams would then score on the powerplay in the final twenty minutes of play. Quinn McCarthy gave his Knights a three goal cushion early in the third. Then, in the final minute of play, freshman winger Mario Paganini (Harrison, NY) received a feed from junior defenseman Douglas McGuire (Elk Grove Villiage, IL) and senior captain Wyatt De Lise (York, Maine) to avoid the shutout.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • The Ravens were once again outshot in the game, surrendering 38 shots to the Purple Knights while only producing 22.
  • Both teams spent a lot of time in the box. The Ravens were given 24 PIM on 8 infractions while the Purple Knights were given 25 PIM on 7 infractions.
  • The Purple Knights also controlled the faceoff circle, winning 37 faceoffs to the Ravens' 28.
