Ravens Falter in Third Period, Fall 5-3

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (1/7/25) – Despite a solid effort through 2 periods, the Franklin Pierce Ravens men's ice hockey team let up four unanswered goals in the third period to the Morrisville State Mustangs and fell 5-3 in non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Ravens wasted no time getting on the scoresheet in the first period, striking first 5:11 into the contest. Sophomore forward Cooper Anderson (Marquette, Mich.) buried a shot to give the Ravens the 1-0 lead, which they held heading into the first intermission.
- Franklin Pierce picked up right where they left off to begin the second period, scoring again 2:03 into the frame. Junior forward Austin Pick (Troutdale, Ore.) found the back of the net to give them the 2-0 lead. Junior defenseman Doug McGuire (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and freshman forward Giovanni Ursillo (Boise, Idaho) were both credited with the assists.
- The bleeding continued for the Mustangs in the second period. Just 2:07 later, Trent King (Malone, N.Y.) tacked on to the Ravens lead to put them up 3-0. Freshman forward Mario Paganini (Harrison, N.Y.) and freshman forward Thomas Perivolotis (Littleton, Mass.) provided the assists on the goal.
- The Mustangs got on the board quickly after, 1:29 after King's goal. Jensen Dodge capitalized on the power play to make it a 3-1 Ravens lead heading into the third period.
- The third period didn't treat the Ravens kindly. The Mustangs struck for 4 unanswered goals to secure the miraculous come-from-behind win. Ryan Glazer started the scoring then Jensen Dodge added his second of the game on the power play. Then, Caden Sutter scored the game-winner and Ryan Glazer added his second to ice the game with an empty netter.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
- The Mustangs outshot the Ravens 36-23.
- Sophomore goalie Riley Mastowski (Jamestown, Pa.) suffered the loss in net for the Ravens, making 31 saves on 35 shots.
- The Ravens went 0-3 on the power play while the Mustangs went 2-5.
NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens return home next Tuesday (1/14) as they square off against the Post Eagles in NE-10 play at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon. Puck drop is at 8 p.m.
