Franklin Pierce Men’s Ice Hockey Battles to Thrilling Tie with Framingham State, Falls in Shootout

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (11/26/24) – The Franklin Pierce men's ice hockey team delivered an electrifying third-period comeback, netting four goals to force overtime against Framingham State. Despite their efforts, the Ravens came up short in the shootout, falling to the Rams in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Loring Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams struck first with a goal by Jerry Duckett, assisted by Jake Barcelou and Ashton Collazo. Framingham then extended their lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal from Robert Bernier, set up by Scott Bugarin and Johnny Baker. 

  • Scott Bugarin increased Framingham's advantage to 3-0, assisted by Bernier and Johnny Baker. 

  • Framingham State briefly restored a two-goal lead with Bernier's second goal, assisted by Bugarin and Michael Kennedy. 

  • Cooper Anderson (Marquette, Mich.) scored Franklin Pierce's second shorthanded goal, on assists from Paganini and Douglas McGuire (Elk Grove Village, Ill.).  

  • Phillip Parker (Medfield, Mass.) capped the Ravens' stunning comeback, tying the game at 4-4 off assists from Trent King (Malone, N.Y.) and Pick. 

  • In the beginning of the 3 on 3 play, both teams played fiercely but remained scoreless through overtime and double overtime.  

  • Framingham State's Johnny Baker netted the lone goal in the shootout to seal the win for the Rams. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Framingham State outshot the Ravens 44-36. 

  • Framingham State went 1-for-5 on the power play, while Franklin Pierce was 0-for-2. 

  • Franklin Pierce served 12 penalty minutes; Framingham State tallied 23 penalty minutes, including a game misconduct. 

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS:

Franklin Pierce will take over a week off for Thanksgiving, but will return to the ice for a weekend series with Southern New Hampshire University starting on Friday, December 7th. The first game of the series is set for 7:40 PM in Manchester, N.H..
