HOW IT HAPPENED:
-
The changes coach Damian Digiulian made during the intermission after the first period yesterday had an immediate impact on the Purple Knights and carried over into their performance in today's matchup. Purple Knights' Case Kantgias from Ben Baxter split the posts to start the scoring. Mario Paganini (Harrison, N.Y.) assisted by Mattew Frett (Cherry Hill, N.J.) quickly answered that goal, tying it at 1-1 on a power play. Saint Micheals then takes advantage of a power play as Brennan McFarland takes the lead for the Purple Knights.
-
Eight minutes into the second period the Ravens had zero shots on goal. The Purple Knights then kept capitalizing defensively, creating opportunities for their offense. Finally, with under a minute left in the period, Hans Forselius extended the Purple Knights lead with a goal, making it 3-1.
-
In the third period, the Purple Knights start strong with another goal a minute in, by Roman Winicki. Then, five minutes into the period the Ravens squandered the opportunity to capitalize on a power play that was 5-on-3, proving costly down by three scores. The Ravens held on offensively and played passively to let their offense get set up but could not take advantage. With 5 minutes remaining, SJ LeComte scores a deflating goal extending the Purple Knights lead to 5-1.
