GARDNER, M.A. (1/20/2024) – The Franklin Pierce men's ice hockey team completed their first sweep of the season, coming from behind 2-1 in the 3rd period to defeat St. Michael's 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Ravens opened the scoring in the 1st period. Trevor Lawler (East Bridgewater, Mass.) dished a pass to Todd Branish (Littleton, Colo.) who ripped a shot, creating a rebound in front for Matt Horan (Methuen, Mass.) to tuck it in the back of the net, putting the Ravens up 1-0.

Case Kantgias buried the equalizer with just 1:08 left in the 2nd period after Hans Forselius fed a pass to Brennan McFarland, who then dropped it back for Kantgias to fire home a rocket from the top of the left circle, tying the game 1-1.

The Purple Knights wouldn't stop there, scoring another goal just 29 seconds later. Moseley Schwartz fed a pass to Nick Wracker at the right circle who then fired a shot and Jack Macdonald cleaned up the rebound at the left post, giving the Purple Knights the lead 2-1 heading into the locker rooms.

After a tough end to the 2nd period, the Ravens came out firing in the 3rd. Tyson Springer (East Palestine, Ohio) threw a puck toward the goal and Austin Pick () cleaned up the loose change and slid it past Marshall Murphy to tie the game at two apiece.

The Ravens capitalized for the first time on the power play with less than 5 minutes remaining in regulation. Matt Horan faked a slapshot and drove right to the goal, with Trevor Lawler on the doorstep and lifting the puck on his backhand for the 3-2 lead.

Matt Horan iced the game for the Ravens with an empty netter off a pass from Cody Rumsey (York, Pa.), giving them the 4-2 win.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
