Late Lester Goal Lifts Men’s Ice Hockey at Daniel Webster, 3-2

NASHUA, N.H. (November 13, 2016) – Freshman forward Alex Lester (Methuen, Mass.) broke a 2-2 tie with just 3:14 to play on Sunday afternoon, to lift the Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team to a 3-2 win on the road at Daniel Webster, in non-conference play at Conway Arena. Sophomore forward Nate Indelicato (Pembroke, Mass.) had a goal and an assist for the Ravens to complete a five-point weekend (3-2-5).

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 4-2-0, while Daniel Webster falls to 1-6-0.

After a scoreless first period, Franklin Pierce opened the scoring with a power-play goal just 3:04 into the second stanza. Indelicato put home his third goal in two days with an unassisted tally, his fourth goal of the season.

Daniel Webster struck back just 5:26 later, at the 8:30 mark. Freshman forward Devin Warfield notched his first collegiate goal, with sophomore defenseman Tre Mason and sophomore forward Zach Paisley providing the assists.

The Ravens took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission, on the strength of the first career goal for sophomore forward Nick Fotiu (Falmouth, Mass.). Junior forward Evan Marek (Enfield, Conn.) and Indelicato had the assists at the 16:33 mark.

Daniel Webster drew level at 2-2 early in the third period, setting up Lester's late heroics. Sophomore defenseman John Ulichney put home his first goal of the season with a power-play marker at the 6:12 mark.

With time winding down, Lester's second goal of the season would provide the game-winning score. He struck for an unassisted marker at the 16:46 mark to put the Ravens out front to stay. Daniel Webster would get a late power play with 1:21 to play, but could not convert, as Franklin Pierce came away with the 3-2 win.

Junior goaltender Tom McGuckin (Clayton, N.J.) made 33 saves against 35 shots on goal to pick the win (4-2-0) between the pipes for Franklin Pierce. At the other end of the ice, sophomore Anthony D'Urso (1-2-0) collected 32 saves against 35 shots and suffered the loss in the crease for Daniel Webster.

The Ravens return to the ice on Saturday, Nov. 19, when they travel to Stonehill for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Opening faceoff is set for 6:10 p.m. at Foxboro Sports Center in Foxborough, Mass.
