Assistant coach Sarah Lagasse also competes in championship

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (February 2, 2013) -- Franklin Pierce University freshman cross country harriers Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) and Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) turned in solid performances on Saturday at the 2013 USATF Junior Cross Country National Championships at the Forest Park Course in St. Louis, Mo.

Lambert, who competed in the women's junior 6k race, finished 48th in a time of 25:11.3, while Ham raced in the junior men's 8k event and placed 57th with a mark of 27:22.0. 

The junior races featured some of the top high schoolers and college freshmen in the nation. By racing in the event, both Lambert and Ham staked their claim to being two of the top young thin clads in the country.

Lambert is the women's cross country program's record-holder in both the 5k and 6k, while Ham earned All-Northeast-10 and USTFCCCA All-East Region honors last season during his rookie campaign.

The Franklin Pierce cross country program was also represented at Saturday's national championships by graduate assistant coach Sarah Lagasse, who competed in the women's open 8k race, and finished 76th in a time of 32:44.2. Lagasse is currently in her first season on the Franklin Pierce coaching staff after a stellar collegiate running career at Bridgewater State.
