Hillis, Schmutzler Named to Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll

MANSFIELD, Mass. (September 7, 2021) – Hannah Hillis (San Clemente, Calif.) and sophomore Morgan Schmutzler (Lockport, Ill.) were named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts in the four-match weekend to open the season, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

The honor marks the first career weekly accolade for both Hillis and Schmutzler.

In her first four collegiate matches, Hillis totaled 52 kills for a 3.25 kills per set average, while adding six aces, 41 digs and an assist. The San Clemente, Calif., native opened the weekend with a standout night of a match-high 16 kills, 12 digs and one ace, before another strong performance with a match-high 10 kills, seven digs and one ace, on Friday. Hillis amassed 13 kills in both matches on Saturday, while also adding a team-high 13 digs and an ace in the first, and nine digs and three aces on in the final match. Across all four matches, Hillis accumulated a team-leading 59.5 points.

Schmutzler recorded 77 digs across all four matches this past weekend, including 25 in the 3-2 victory over Goldey-Beacom. The Lockport, Ill., native also contributed 11 assists, six attacks and three aces.

Hillis' 52 kills rank fourth in the NE10 while Schmutzler's 77 digs also puts her fourth in the conference, as both lead the team in their respective categories.

The Ravens hit the road for three matches at the Wildcat Invitational in Wilmington, Del. The first match is set for 10 a.m. on Friday against Chestnut Hill, before they take on the host team, Wilmington (Del.) at 4 p.m. The Crimson and Grey conclude the weekend with a 2 p.m. match against Jefferson.
