Women's Tennis Sees Four Collect NE10 All-Conference Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. (October 21, 2021) – Four members of the Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team collected a host of postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference on Thursday. Graduate student Estela Carra (Logrono, Spain) was named to the All-NE10 First Team, as well as the doubles pairing of Carra and junior Liria Loria (La Paz, Bolivia), while Loria, sophomore Zoe Asterio Correa (Toronto, Ontario) and junior Jillian Pagliuca (Taunton, Mass.) landed on the All-NE10 Third Team.

The NE10 determines All-Conference selections on a strictly objective basis, by tallying the individual records of players in matches against league opponents. The league's major awards and All-Rookie Team was determined by a vote of NE10 coaches.

Carra earned First Team honors for her efforts at No. 4 singles. The graduate student posted a 6-0 record while representing the Ravens at the position in six of the team's 10 NE10 matches. She also went 3-0 in the No. 5 spot and was 1-0 at No. 6 for a 10-0 overall record.

The pair of Carra and Loria also earned the First Team accolade as a result of their play at No. 2 doubles, going 4-0 in NE10 play. The duo was paired together for five of six NE10 matches at the No. 2 spot, playing one doubles competition in conference play at the No. 1 position.

Loria collected a 5-1 record in league matches at No. 3 singles to take home Third Team honors. She also went 2-2 at No. 2 singles in conference play to move to 7-3 overall this season.

Asterio Correa was named to the Third Team at No. 5 singles, where she played most of her matches. She finished with an NE10 singles record of 7-3, which included a 5-2 record at the No. 5 position and a 2-1 record at No. 6 singles.

Pagliuca was selected to the Third Team for her work exclusively at No. 6 singles, finishing with a 3-3 mark in NE10 play.

The Ravens recently defeated New Haven in the NE10 Quarterfinals, advancing to the Semifinals. Franklin Pierce will take a road trip to Hooksett, N.H., to take on Southern New Hampshire on Friday, October 22, at 1 p.m.
