Bolduc becomes second goalkeeper in school history with 700 career saves

RINDGE, N.H. (April 21, 2012) – Senior goalkeeper Jillian Bolduc (Atkinson, N.H.) made seven saves on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team was defeated, 19-5, by No. 1 nationally ranked Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Before the game, the Ravens honored their six-player senior class: Bolduc, midfielders Mary Kate Stille (North Quincy, Mass.) and Christine McKay (Norwood, Mass.), attacker Brianna Nash (Oceanside, N.Y.) and defenders Kim Jaksina (Townsend, Mass.) and Kristen Norton (Sandown, N.H.).

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 5-8 (3-6 Northeast-10), while Le Moyne improves to 13-1 (10-0 Northeast-10).

Though she ultimately took the loss (5-7) in net for Franklin Pierce, Bolduc made seven saves against 26 shots on her net on the afternoon to become just the second goalkeeper in school history to make 700 career saves.

Le Moyne opened the scoring with the first six goals of the game over the first 5:26 to jump to a 6-0 lead and never looked back. Senior attacker Brittany Brigandi netted three of her four goals in the opening spurt, to run her team-leading goal total to 54. Franklin Pierce struck with back-to-back goals from junior attacker Melissa Richtel (Castle Rock, Colo.) and junior midfielder Courtney Weber (Centerport, N.Y.) to cut the gap to 6-2, but Le Moyne ran off the next seven goals of the game, on a run that stretched into the second half, to put the game out of reach.

For Franklin Pierce, Nash, junior midfielder Lindsey Leach (Hamden, Conn.) and junior attacker Ashley Lamagdeleine (Westfield, Mass.) joined Richtel and Weber in the goal column in the contest. Nash and Weber each added an assist as the Ravens' only multiple-point scorers. Defensively, Jaksina led all players in both ground balls and caused turnovers, with five of each, in the final home game of her career.

For Le Moyne, Brigandi (4-1-5) and junior attacker Kelly Condon (1-4-5) led the attack with five points each, while junior midfielder Gabrielle Kamide (3-1-4), sophomore midfielder Jennifer Fabian (3-0-3) and sophomore attacker Kathleen Conese (3-0-3) all chalked up multiple points as well. On the other side of the ball, senior goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo led the Dolphins with four groundballs, while six Le Moyne players caused one turnover each.

Fucillo played the first 40:50 in net to pick up the win (13-1) for Le Moyne. She made three saves against seven on-target shots at her end of the field.

Le Moyne held a 36-20 advantage in shot attempts, a 21-20 edge in ground balls and a 20-6 advantage in draw controls in the game. Franklin Pierce was successful on 12 of its 18 clear attempts (66.7%) and went 1-for-4 on free-position shots (25%). Le Moyne went 13-for-18 on clear attempts (72.2%) and 3-for-11 on free-position opportunities (27.3%).

The Ravens return to the field on Tuesday, April 24, when they wrap up the home portion of their schedule with a Northeast-10 Conference contest against Merrimack. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Pierce Pride Night at Sodexo Field.
