Bio

Julia Unterseher enters her first year as an assistant coach with the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team in 2020-21.

Franklin Pierce will be the first collegiate coaching stop for Unterseher, who comes to Rindge fresh off a four-year career on the blue line at Division III Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill. She played in each of the 113 games the Foresters played in her time on campus and amassed a +55 plus/minus rating along the way, to go with 56 points, on 24 goals and 32 assists. Unterseher opened her career with a bang, as a 7-8-15 campaign as a freshman in 2016-17 earned her All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) accolades, as well as a spot on the league's All-Freshman Team. She would go on to be a three-time NCHA All-Acadmeic Team selection and capped her career in 2019-20 as a team captain and was named the team MVP in her senior season. Unerseher's highest output as a collegian was a 19-point season (8-11-19) in her sophomore campaign.

The Foresters made appearances in the NCHA title game in Unterseher's freshman and sophomore seasons after third-place finishes in the league's South Division. In her junior and senior years, the team posted second-place finishes in South Division, but bowed out in the semifinal round.

Originally from North Oaks, Minn., Unterseher is a 2020 graduate of Lake Forest College, with a degree in business. She is pursuing her master's degree in sport management at Franklin Pierce.
