SOUTHWICK, Mass. (October 16, 2022) -- So far, so good, for the Franklin Pierce University women's golf team, in pursuit of its fourth consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The Ravens put together a round of 315 (+27) to open play on Sunday, and opened up a 10-shot lead at the top of a seven-team field with one round to play. Sophomore Kesinee Prukmathakul (Bangkok, Thailand) led the way with a first-round 71 (-1), which puts her two shots off the individual lead on a 36-golfer leaderboard. The NE10 Championship is being held at the par-72, 5804-yard Ranch Golf Club.

Three Ravens are inside the top 10 with 18 holes left to play. Five shots behind Prukmathakul is fellow Thai sophomore Phisonlaya Ruayruen (Chiangmai, Thailand), who is tied-third at 76 (+4). Senior Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) turned in a Sunday 82 (+10) and is tied-seventh. The Ranch Golf Club played to a scoring average of 90.39 in the first round, just over 18 shots over par.

Rounding out Franklin Pierce's scoring four on Sunday was senior Micaela Leandro (Harlingen, Texas), who is tied-13th at 86 (+14). Freshman Lorelai Flanagan (Arlington, Mass.) filled out the five-player lineup with an 88 (+16), as all five Ravens put together rounds better than the field's average.

It all added up to 315 (+27) for the Ravens, which puts the team 10 shots clear of Adelphi at 325 (+37). The Panthers are another 14 shots ahead of third-place Le Moyne, at 339 (+51).

Individually, Prukmathakul is two shots off the overnight lead of Adelphi junior Ilaria Ponziani, who carded a three-under 69, the lone round in the 60s on the day. Ruayruen shares third place with Assumption junior Jennifer Walsh.

The NE10 Championship will wrap up with its second round on Monday at the Ranch Golf Club.
