Kesinee Prukmathakul

KEENE, N.H. (September 27, 2021) -- On Sunday, the Franklin Pierce University women's golf team opened up a big first-round lead at its home tournament, the FPU Fall Invitational. On Monday, the Ravens pushed the pedal down even further, lowered their score by five shots and cruised to a runaway, 50-shot win in the three-team event. Meanwhile, freshman Kesinee Prukmathakul (Bangkok, Thailand) tied for the low round of the tournament with a second-round 72 (E), as she picked up medalist honors for the third straight tournament.

At the team level, the Ravens backed up their Sunday 307 (+19) with a Monday 302 (+14), to finish at 609 (+33). It was a blowout win for the crimson and grey, who finished 50 shots in front of second-place Assumption, at 328-331--659 (+83), and 56 shots in front of third-place Adelphi, at 333-332--665 (+89).

At the top of the individual leaderboard, Prukmathakul had been second after Sunday's play, but her even-par second round gave her a final line of 75-72--147 (+3), which was good for a two-shot victory at the head of the 35-golfer field. The Monday 72 was tied for low round of the tournament with Adelphi sophomore Ilaria Ponziani, who used a Monday 72 of her own to vault from fifth into a tie for second at 77-72--149 (+5). Ponziani finished tied at 149 with the first-round leader, Franklin Pierce junior Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.), who followed her Sunday 73 (+1) with a second-round 76 (+4).

Saint Rose sophomore Erika Fuentes went 76-78--154 (+10) to finish solo fourth. Playing out of the five-spot in the lineup for Assumption, senior Skylar Wolfe put together an impressive 76-79--155 (+11) line to place solo fifth to close out the top five.

Sophomore Kayla Schuberth (Wrentham, Mass.) in sixth and freshman Phisonlaya Ruayruen (Chiangmai, Thailand) in seventh rounded out Franklin Pierce's scoring four. Schuberth improved two shots on Monday to finish at 79-77--156 (+12), while Ruayruen was three shots better to post an 80-77--157 (+13) line. Junior Micaela Leandro (Harlingen, Texas) put all five spots of the Ravens' lineup in the 70s on Monday with a 77 (+5), and put all five inside the top 15 as well, as her 90-77--167 (+23) allowed her to finish tied-14th.

Three other Ravens were in the field as individuals as well. Sophomore Alexis St. Laurent (Nashua, N.H.) finished solo 19th at 87-86--173 (+29), freshman Kaylee Lintner (Walpole, N.H.) was solo 24th at 89-90--179 (+35), and junior Liz Crandall (Pawcatuck, Conn.) was tied-28th at 97-91--188 (+44).

The Ravens have the upcoming week off and return to the course as the two-time defending champion of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9-10, at Beaver Meadow Golf Club in Concord, N.H.
