NORTH EAST, Pa. (September 18, 2021) -- The season has officially started with a bang for the Franklin Pierce University women's golf team. The Ravens matched their Friday total with an identical Saturday 317 (+29), to finish with a two-day total of 634 (+58) and claim a 10-shot victory at the Evann Parker Memorial, hosted by Mercyhurst. Individually, freshman Kesinee Prukmathakul (Bangkok, Thailand) improved by three shots, with an even-par 72, to finish at 147 (+3) and post a six-shot victory of her own in her debut collegiate tournament. Mercyhurst was the host of the Evann Parker Memorial, held at Lake View Country Club.

The team round of 317 was tied for second-best on the day, but good enough for the Ravens to post the victory in the 11-team tournament. Charleston (W.Va.) matched Franklin Pierce with a 317 of its own, which allowed Friday's 10-shot first-round gap to stand as the margin of victory. Gannon turned in the low round of the tournament at 313 (+25), but it was not enough to make up the ground to either of the top two teams, as the Knights finished third at 646 (+70), just two shots behind Charleston.

Meanwhile, on the individual front, Prukmathakul had been tied-second, one shot back after Friday's play. Her Saturday 72 would stand as the low round of the tournament and was more than enough to erase the deficit. Prukmathakul finished six shots clear of Charleston sophomore Beatrice Diaz, who had equaled Prukmathakul's 75 on Friday, but turned in a six-over 78 on Saturday, to finish at 153 (+9). First-round leader Dymphna Ueda of Ursuline managed just an 81 (+9) on Saturday and finished tied-third, eight shots back, at 155 (+11).

Franklin Pierce boasted a trio of top-10 finishes in the 64-golfer field at the Evann Parker Memorial. Junior Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) followed her opening 77 with a second-round 81 (+9) and slid two spots to a solo-seventh finish. Sophomore Kayla Schuberth (Wrentham, Mass.) improved by one shot with a Saturday 80 to finish at 161 (+17), and also slipped two spots, to an eighth-place finish. Franklin Pierce's fourth counting score of the second round belonged to junior Micaela Leandro (Harlingen, Texas), who carded a 12-over 84, six shots better than Friday, to jump up seven spots and finish in a tie for 25th.

Freshman Phisonlaya Ruayruen (Chiangmai, Thailand) turned in an 84-85--169 (+25) line and slipped five spots to a tied-18th finish, to round out Franklin Pierce's participation at the tournament.

The Ravens are right back at it on Sunday, when they open play at the two-day Michael Corbett Fall Classic, hosted by Gannon, at Whispering Woods Golf Club in Erie, Pa.
