Triad of Women's Basketball Members Receive NE10 Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. (March,1 2022) – A week of celebration continues at Franklin Pierce University as three players from the Ravens Women's Basketball program were announced as recipients of end-of-season honors from the Northeast-10 Conference. The official announcement came Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, with senior forward Emma Carter (Bristol, Vermont) receiving NE10 All-Conference Second-Team honors, alongside sophomore standouts Ines Gimenez Monserrat (Mallorca, Spain) and Gisela Vazquez Segura (Igualada, Spain), who were each named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team.

In four seasons with the Ravens, Carter has played a grand total of 71 games, while averaging a total of 27 playing minutes per game. Through this season, the senior forward has contributed nicely to the offensive side of the Ravens game, finding points from everywhere on the floor. The team leader in both playing time (34.1 Min/G) and points per game (17.9), Carter also contributed a top-3 average of 5.1 rebounds. From the overall NE10 perspective this season, Carter ranks 4th amongst shooters in points per game, and 3rd in 3-point percentage (39.3%).   

After an unavoidably shortened first season, Ines Gimenez Monserrat in her second season has played a key role for the Ravens this season. With a team leading 6.1 rebounds average, Monserrat was tough to stop defensively. Earlier in the season, she would also record her first ever double-double (on November, 20 2021, a victory over Dominican (N.Y.), and eventually record a 2nd in the first round of the NE10 Championship against Adelphi, also a victory for the Ravens.

Joining Monserrat on the All-Rookie Team, sophomore player Gisela Vazquez Segura showed tremendous promise this past season, after also playing a shortened 2020-21 campaign. Participating in all 27 Ravens games this year, Segura put up solid numbers offensively with an average of 8.6 points per game, meanwhile frequently pulling in 5 or more rebounds. She also recorded her first double-double this season, back on January 22 2022 against Adelphi (10 points, 10 rebounds). Vazquez additionally went on a scoring tear through the month of January, going five straight games with at least 10 points.

For all three players, this is their first reception of honors from the NE10 Conference.
