The piece chronicles the path the Leedham sisters (Jennifer, Johannah and Kirsty) took to be able to play college basketball in the United States.

Jennifer starred at Franklin Pierce from 2005-09 and helped guide the program to two-straight NCAA East Regional championships and a berth in the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championship game. She moved to the bench this season and served as an assistant coach for Franklin Pierce. Johannah recently concluded her brilliant career this past season as she staked her claim to being one of the finest players in women’s college basketball history. She scored 3,050 points for her career, which is the most in Division II history and the fifth most all-time across all divisions. Johannah helped guide Franklin Pierce to back-to-back Northeast-10 Championships and three-straight trips to the Division II Elite Eight. She was drafted by the Connecticut Sun in the third round of the 2010 WNBA Draft last month. Kirsty recently completed her junior season at Caldwell College in New Jersey, and is already the school’s all-time leader in three-point shooting.

The sisters grew up in Ellesmere Port, England and played netball prior to picking up the game of basketball in their early teens. All three spent time at the Cheshire Academy in Connecticut before splitting off to their respective collegiate careers.
