INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (5/9/22) – It was never really a question of how, but rather a question of when for the Franklin Pierce softball team, who punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history following their record setting season. Per the official announcement made by the NCAA early Monday morning, the Ravens will enter as the #6 seeded team in the East Region, and will face the #3 seed Wilmington University (DE) in the first round.

The host site will be Lakewood, New Jersey and #2 seeded Georgian Court University.

As a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), Wilmington University enters the tournament with a 34-18 overall record, after having gone 19-5 in CACC competition this season. After making a statement in the conference tournament, however, the conference announced that the remainder of the 2022 CACC Softball Championship would be cancelled due to unplayable field conditions caused by inclement weather. Georgian Court University, which was the only undefeated team left in the tournament, received the championship title by default as well as the automatic bid.

Three additional NE10 teams will join the Ravens in the regional bracket, with #5 Saint Anselm set to battle #4 Caldwell University (CACC), and #8 seeded Pace University playing recently crowned conference champion #1 Adelphi University, who will also serve as a host school.

The Ravens and Wildcats are slated for a 2 PM start time on Thursday, with the winner advancing to face the winner of #2 Georgian Court and #7 University of Bridgeport.
