Softball's Ashley Cangiano Tabbed as NE10 Player of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. (5/2/22) – For the second time in her collegiate career, as well as this season, sophomore right fielder Ashley Cangiano (North Attleboro, Mass.) was named the NE10 "Player of the Week", per the announcement from the league offices on Monday evening.

The accolades were for softball's final week of the regular season, which featured three separate road doubleheader matchups versus Stonehill College, Assumption and American International. Across that span, Cangiano finished the week with 13 total hits, including a home run, while posting a .619 batting average, an .810 slug percentage, and a .609 on-base percentage.

The real highlight from Cangiano was her offensive performance in the opening game in their final doubleheader of the season at AIC, setting a new program record for single-game runs batted in with seven total. Through the entire series, Cangiano concluded with eight runs batted in, bringing her week total to 14 RBI.

Cangiano and Franklin Pierce softball prepare for this week's NE10 Conference Tournament, which will be hosted by Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. Their next matchup will be a semifinal round contest on Thursday, May 5th where they await the winner of #7 Bentley at #6 Assumption, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 3rd.
