Summa, No. 28 Men’s Cross Country both Take Victory at Kirsh Cup

HOPKINTON, N.H. (October 15, 2022) -- The No. 28 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University men's cross-country program had yet another strong meet on Saturday, as junior Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) once again took first place, for the third straight race, this time at the team's home meet, the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup. Out of 48 runners in the 8k, Summa was the first to cross the line, after 24:17. Overall the team took first out of five teams, to notch its first win of the season, at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds.

After Summa for the Ravens, it was junior Ryan Outerbridge (Paget, Bermuda), who took fourth for a 25:36 performance. He was followed by graduate student Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.), who took fifth for a 25:40 time.

Fellow graduate student Sebastien Vicary (Ulceby, United Kingdom) claimed eighth for his 26:11 performance, while junior Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.) ran a time of 26:25 to take ninth, and put all five scoring members inside the top 10 for the Ravens. Junior Thomas Darrah (Thetford, Vt.) narrowly missed his own top-10 finish, as he claimed 11th for his 26:58 time.

It all added up to just 27 points for the Ravens, who posted an 18-point victory over fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Assumption. Southern Connecticut State (86 points) took third.

Also competing on Saturday for Franklin Pierce was junior Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.) in 13th for a 27:02 performance. Freshman Declan Morgan (West Springfield, Mass.) was 18th across the line with his 28:06 time. Sophomore Ntakirutimana Janvier (Burlington, Vt.) was 25th for his 29:09 time.

Crossing in 29th with a time of 29:27 was sophomore Ben Clinch (Northwood, N.H.). Junior Jake Collins (Brick, N.J.) took 37th for his 31:58 performance. Sophomore Aidan Healy (Bedford, N.H.) was the final Raven in the field, as he took 42nd for his 34:56 time.

The Ravens have one more tune-up left on their schedule before diving into championship season. They will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 21, at the CCSU Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn.
