MANCHESTER, N.H. (October 24, 2021) -- Sophomore Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) and senior Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team both earned All-Northeast-10 Conference honors on Saturday afternoon, to lead the Ravens to a fourth-place finish, out of 14 teams, at the NE10 Championship, hosted by Saint Anselm. Summa took third to land on the All-NE10 First Team, while Fenoff collected Third Team honors by taking 20th. Summa's third marked the program's highest-ever individual finish at the NE10 Championship.

Fenoff also collected the NE10 Elite 24 Award for men's cross country. The Elite 24 Awards are presented at each NE10 Championship site to the participant with the highest grade-point average. It is the third straight year Fenoff has won the award.

Summa needed only 25:37.2 to get around the 8k course to finish fourth in a 149-runner field. Following in 20th for his 26:56 time was Fenoff. In 24th was senior William Aylward (Peabody, Mass.), who ran a time of 27:16. He was followed directly by senior Cody Tallent (Bellows Falls, Vt.), who claimed 25th for his 27:17 performance. Sophomore Thomas Darrah (Thetford, Vt.) claimed 36th for his 27:54 time, to round out Franklin Pierce's scoring five on the day.

It was 105 points for the Ravens, who also took fourth the last time the NE10 Championship was contested, in 2019. Franklin Pierce was just six points in back of third-place Stonehill (99 points), and was 83 points clear of Assumption in fifth (188 points). Up front, American International (28 points) scored a 10-point victory over Southern Connecticut State (38 points). It was the second straight NE10 title for the Yellow Jackets, as well as their fifth overall.

Summa was beaten only by a pair of runners from the victorious AIC squad. Junior Ezra Mutai took the NE10 title in 24:27, while freshman Callum Elson was just 10 seconds ahead of Summa, at 25:27, to finish second. A pair of SCSU runners rounded out the top five, as sophomore Jake Mattei (25:37.5) was outkicked by Summa and finished fourth, while senior Terrell Patterson (25:47) finished fifth.

Farther back for Franklin Pierce, freshman Logan Mihelich (Northwood, N.H.) took 37th for his 27:54 time. Fellow freshman Harrison Pelosi (Gloucester, Mass.) claimed 46th for his 28:12 finish. Junior Ibrahim Ayyash (Worcester, Mass.) raced the course in 28:37 to claim 60th. Sophomore Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.) took 97th for his 29:51 time.

In 111th was sophomore Ntakirutimana Janvier (Burlington, Vt.), followed by sophomore Mitchell Stokes (Worcester, Mass.) in 112th. They raced in 30:38 and 30:41 respectively. Freshman Mike Eggers-Emerson (Contoocook, N.H.) raced a time of 32:18 and claimed 134th to finish out the day for the Ravens.

The Ravens have an open weekend next week, before championship season continues on Saturday, Nov. 6, with the NCAA Championship East Regional, to be hosted by Roberts Wesleyan, in Rochester, N.Y.
