Freshman Colton Ham Earns All-Region Honors as Men's Cross Country Places 14th at NCAA East Regional

Ravens conclude 2012 season in strong fashion by placing in upper half of field

RESULTS

NASHUA, N.H. (November 4, 2012) -- Freshman Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) finished 30th out of 188 runners on Sunday to help lead the Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team to a 14th place finish out of 27 teams in the NCAA Division II East Region Championship, held at Mines Falls Park in Nashua, N.H.

The Ravens finished the 10k race with 403 points and tied for 14th with fellow Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption, which also garnered the same point total.

The highlight for Franklin Pierce was Ham, who finished the race in a time of 31:43.0. By finishing among the top-35 individuals in the race, Ham earned All-East Region honors from the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). It marked the second honor for Ham this year as he also earned Third-Team All-Northeast-10 honors by finishing in the top-20 at the conference championship last month.

Freshman Ryan Cross (Suffern, N.Y.) followed in 71st place in a time of 32:58.8. After Cross was a pair of sophomores, as J.T. Trujillo (Derry, N.H.) and Eric Gallos (Ventnor, N.J.) finished 83rd and 107th, respectively. Trujillo turned in a time of 33:20.5, while Gallos had a mark of 34:16.1.

The fifth Raven to count towards the team score was rookie Isaac Fithian (Kingston, N.H.), who placed 112th in a time of 34:30.9.

American International (48 points), Bentley (64 points) and Stonehill (84 points) finished first, second and third, respectively, to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Finals later this month.
