NEW BRITAIN, Conn (September 22, 2012) – Freshman Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) finished 23rd out of 94 runners in a time of 26:56.98 on Saturday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team to an eighth-place finish out of 10 teams at the Ted Owen Invitational, hosted by Central Connecticut State, at Stanley Quarter Park. The meet featured eight Division I teams, with Franklin Pierce besting one of them in Fairleigh Dickinson, and also placing as the top Division II squad on the afternoon, as the Ravens finished one spot in front of fellow Northeast-10 member Southern Connecticut State.

Ham was the first of three Franklin Pierce runners to finish in the top 50 overall, as sophomore Joe Trujillo (Derry, N.H.) finished 36th with a time of 27:39.84 and freshman Chaz Munroe (Concord, N.H.) placed 48th in 28:00.78. Farther back, freshman Ryan Cross (Suffern, N.Y.) stopped the clock at 28:04.70 to finish 51st and freshman Luke McCann (Galloway, N.J.) placed 72nd in a time of 28:58.45 to round out the Ravens' five scoring runners. Northeastern placed four of its five runners in the top 15 to take the team title in the Hardware City with a final tally of 43 points. Connecticut finished second, 15 points farther back, to make it a duo of Huskies in the top two positions. The canine-inspired teams finished well ahead of the rest of the field, as Hartford (118), Wagner (125) and University of Rhode Island (136) rounded out the top five.

Individually, Northeastern freshman Wesley Gallagher finished first with a time of 25:29.43, edging out Antoine Gisore (25:29.72) at the line. Connecticut senior Ryan McGuire (25:55.31), Northeastern sophomore Stephen Sollowin (25:58.32) and Fairleigh Dickinson's Darrel Gooding (26:02.55) rounded out the top five individuals.

The Ravens are next in action on Saturday, Sept. 29, when they participate in the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon, at 9 a.m. in Wenham, Mass.
