GREENWOOD, Ind. (November 15, 2021) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer program has had two student-athletes earn Academic All-District honors from College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as announced late last week. Graduate student Carlos Ferrando Felis (Tavernes de la Valldigna, Spain) and junior Kosta Maniatis (Montreal, Quebec) were both named to the Academic All-District I First Team. As a result of their selection, both will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

To be eligible for selection, each student-athlete must own a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or higher, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and be a starter or significant contributor athletically. The Academic All-District and All-America teams are voted on by sports information directors in the district and nation, respectively.

It is the second straight Academic All-District honor for Ferrando Felis, who went on to earn Academic All-America First Team accolades a year ago. Meanwhile, Maniatis has been honored for the first time.

Ferrando Felis, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, has a 3.98 GPA as a graduate student, after finishing his undergraduate career with a 3.67 as a health science major. He has appeared in 14 games for the Ravens, including 13 starts, and anchors a defensive unit which has surrendered only eight goals and 32 shots on goal all season long, including 12 shutouts. At the offensive end of the field, Ferrando Felis has scored three times, including one game-winning goal, and has added an assist, while attempting 12 shots.

Maniatis, the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year, has posted a 3.75 GPA as an accounting major. He is the backstop of the team's defensive effort and has played in 17 games, including 16 starts. Maniatis has stopped 20 of the 27 shots he has faced, to post a .741 save percentage, a 0.43 goals-against average and a 16-1-0 record with nine shutouts. His goals-against average is tops in the NE10.

Academic All-America teams for men's soccer are slated to be announced on Dec. 9.
