HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Franklin Pierce sophomore midfielder Jackson Philion (Charlton, MA) scored the first goal of the game and season for the Ravens two minutes into the first quarter. Curtis Nelson (Gilford, NH) and Chris Hunt (Billerica, MA) followed up minutes later with a goal each to give the Ravens a quick 3-0 lead. D'Youville finally got on the board with four minutes left in the first, but Raven attackman Conor Rooney (Wilmington, MA) gave the Ravens the last word for the first quarter after he dumped in an unassisted goal with 13 seconds left.
  • The Ravens' offense took flight in the second quarter with six different players finding the net on seven goals. The offensive explosion was highlighted by two goals from Alex Costa (Billerica, MA), three assists from Rooney, and a surprise 15-yard stepdown shot goal from freshman defender Nick Sawyer (Dracut, MA). Closing out the half, the Ravens held an 11-2 lead.
