Franklin Pierce Defeated At Saint Anselm, 16-5

Breitstadt records a career high six goals and four assists to lead Hawks

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 12, 2006) - The Franklin Pierce Men's lacrosse team suffered a tough 16-5 loss to Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 action this afternoon at Melucci Field. The Hawks held the Ravens to just two goals in the first half while notching nine goals in the second frame to earn their third victory of the season..

Saint Anselm sophomore attacker Chaz Breitstadt (Dublin, Ohio) led all scorers, totaling ten points in the game on a career-high six goals and four assists. Freshman Chris Murphy (Winchester, Mass.) tallied a career-high five goals and two assists to aid the Hawk attack, while Brian Hubert (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with two goals and two assists.

The Franklin Pierce offensive attack was led by sophomore Luke Ferreira (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) as he totaled three points on two goals and one assist. Freshmen Kyle Kruse (Bourne, Mass./Bourne) and Ryan Boller (New Cannan, Conn./New Cannan) each chipped in with one goal apiece. 

Saint Anselm took an early 4-0 lead in the first-quarter and later went on a five-to-one spree in the third quarter to earn the victory. The Hawks out-shot the Ravens 35-22 overall and held a 28-15 advantage in groundballs. Saint Anselm goaltender Andrew Roy (Westford, Mass.) made 10 saves in the win, while Franklin Pierce goaltender, senior Ben Lek (Gaithersburg, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) stopped 11 shots in the loss for the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce (0-8, 0-7 NE-10) will be in action again on Saturday as it hosts Pace University at 4 p.m. Saint Anselm College (3-8, 2-4 NE-10) will be back in action on Monday, as it travels to Southern New Hampshire University at 7 p.m.
