COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 6, 2022) -- The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has had 11 student-athletes named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Academic Squad, as announced earlier this spring by the NFHCA. Furthermore, freshman Lexie Frank (Cape May Court House, N.J.), freshman Rebecca Phillips (West Amwell, N.J.) and sophomore Julia Rooijakkers (Eindhoven, Netherlands) were each named as a Scholar of Distinction by the NFHCA, while the team earned the NFHCA's National Academic Team Award.

In addition to the trio above, the following eight players earned National Academic Squad accolades: sophomore Silver Clukey (Winslow, Maine), freshman Caity Hazley (Kingston, Mass.), junior Christine Jarowicz (Kennebunk, Maine), junior MacKenzie Potvin (Goffstown, N.H.), freshman Abbie Ross (Winthrop, Maine), sophomore Claire Stewart (Pownal, Maine), sophomore Emma Thompson (Fiskdale, Mass.) and junior Meghan Winn (Newburyport, Mass.).

To be eligible for selection to the National Academic Squad, a student-athlete must have posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher through the fall semester. In addition, the Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes carrying GPAs of 3.90 or higher. Franklin Pierce has now had 19 Scholar of Distinction selections over the nine seasons the NFHCA has recognized them.

The Ravens earned the National Academic Team Award -- which requires a team GPA of 3.0 or higher -- for the 16th time overall, and the seventh year in a row.

Franklin Pierce has now had 190 selections to the NFHCA National Academic Squad, all since 2000, an average of 8.6 student-athletes per season over the last 22 years. Winn earned her third career selection, while Clukey, Jarowicz, Rooijakkers, Stewart and Thompson were honored for the second time in as many years. Frank, Hazley, Phillips, Potvin and Ross were all first-time honorees for the Ravens, who have now had 85 different players honored under the National Academic Squad program.
