RINDGE, N.H. (September 8, 2015) – Freshman forward Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) of the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday by the Conference office. She was one of five Ravens to be honored by the Northeast-10 this week.

In her first week as a collegiate player, da Silva piled up six points while leading the Ravens to a 2-0-0 weekend. In Saturday's season opener against Felician, da Silva struck twice in the first half, including the game-winning goal, as Franklin Pierce rolled to a 5-0 win. It was more of the same for the Ravens in a 4-0 win over Caldwell on Sunday, when da Silva assisted on Madison Finlay's first-half game-winner and added another helper later on a score by Nichole Donovan.

As it was her first week as a collegiate student-athlete, the honor marked da Silva's first career Northeast-10 accolade.

ON THE HONOR ROLL

- Natalia Bachelder (South Berwick, Maine), field hockey -- The senior midfielder anchored a defensive effort which allowed just one goal in two games over the weekend, as the Ravens defeated Dowling and Bentley. Bachelder also picked up an assist on Sunday against Bentley, as part of the corner unit.

- Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.), field hockey -- The sophomore forward chalked up six points to lead the offensive effort for the Ravens over the weekend. She assisted on both goals by Vanessa LeBlanc as the Ravens rallied for a 2-1 win over Dowling on Saturday and then scored twice -- including the game-winner -- in Sunday's 3-0 win over Bentley.

- Meaghan Williams (Salem, N.H.), field hockey -- The sophomore goaltender allowed just one goal against 15 shots on goal while posting a pair of wins over the weekend. She made 10 saves against Bentley on Sunday -- including seven in the second half -- to earn her third career shutout.

- B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.), men's cross country -- The junior led the Ravens in their second-place finish at Saturday's Roger Williams Invitational by finishing fifth overall with a 5k time of 16:20.3.
