Ravens Drop Final Match of the Season, 3-1  
 

COLCHESTER, Vt. (11/12/24) - The Franklin Pierce women's volleyball team played the final match of their 2024 season on Tuesday evening. Saint Michael's clinched a spot in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship with tonights win.  

Score: 19-25, 25-12, 25-19, 25-19 

Records: Franklin Pierce (2-18, 0-10 NE10), Saint Michael's (8-15, 4-5 NE10) 

Location: Ross Sports Center, Colchester, Vt.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Ravens opened with an impressive start, winning the first set 25-19. The Purple Knights attempted to tie the game at 13-13, but Avery LeBlanc (Exeter, R.I.) and Katholiki Koukia (Rhodes, Greece) contributed well-executed kills to allow the Ravens to continue to lead. Koukia and Martina Spackova (Bratislava, Slovakia) had back-to-back kills to call the set at 25-19.  

  • The second set opened on a kill from Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) but then the Purple Knights would be sure to regain control of the match. They would go on a 10-1 streak and continue to dominate thanks to kills from D'Niaya Settles. The Purple Knights would tie the match up at 1-1 with a 25-19 final in set 2.  

  • Spackova would get the Ravens started in set 3 as they opened up with a 2-0 lead. The Purple Knights would respond with three straight kills but the set would continue to go back and forth. Koukia tied the set at 8-8 on an assist from Lindstrom, but once again the Purple Knights would respond in their favor. The Ravens attempted to cut the score near the end on a last-minute kill from Koukia, but the Purple Knights would secure set 3, 19-25.  

  • The fourth set started with the Purple Knights in the lead and never lost it. Senior Avery Theriault (West Hartford, Conn.) would contribute a kill to bring the score within 22-17, however, the Purple Knights had the momentum and secured the match win with a set 4 score of 25-19.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens 2024 campaign has come to an end, but they'll use the upcoming offeseason to regroup and train as they set their sights on the 2025 season.
